Original
Yes. What is original?

Well, original is a status that a page achieves when it is the only page of quality or topic that can be found, anywhere.

Webmasters in every language and all over the world struggle with coming up with original content. The most original of content are interactive pages like games, quizzes, and other things like that. Anything that the user interacts with has some form of originality, even something like a poll.

But it's important to balance out original content and informative content. Original content doesn't necessarily need to be informative: it can be a fun game that rewards you with a prize, for instance, or a guide that talks about the art of Cat Treeing.

Here's some tips on original and informative content ideas.

Original Ideas
They don't necesssarily have to be never done before, but they need to have their own unique twist.
  • Write a weekly story or comic with an interesting cast
  • Come up with a clever "finding" game where the visitor attempts to find a site mascot
  • Mailbags where you reply to funny and peculiar emails (they can even be fake!?) are really fun!
  • Contests are a great way to go. Spriting contests, drawing contests, and guessing games are popular.
  • A page for quirky polls is a cool way to keep people at your site!

Informative Ideas
To repeat myself: informative information is probably going to be the most-viewed content that you'll have.
  • Don't write walkthroughs, or game guides. There's huge sites with much better guides - sorry to burst your bubble!
  • In addition to that... refrain from game content altogether. It won't make it.
  • If you simply must write game content, try writing it with a twist: easy ways to go, how to get around having to level your guys up massively for the Elite Four, etc. Cool twists = awesome!
  • It bodes well to write guides targeted to morons. To play it safe, assume the reader of your guide is a grade-A idiot.
  • Try writing guides for free programs that anybody can use, even newbies.
