Site History
Hmm, so you're interested in the history of EHQ, eh? Well duh, that's why you're here; in any case, I suggest you begin to brew a cup of coffee, because this may take a while. Now where to begin...

In the very beginnings of time (year 2003, actually), I was just a spry young grasshopper searching for a way to express my *cough* artistic needs to the world. Not too long before that I had begun to become very interested in the internet, and in fact, I was just beginning to touch type (a form of speedy typing without looking at where your fingers are headed). Now being the spoiled little insect I was, I asked my dear old daddy to buy me a webbysite, and of course he did without much hesitation (though he almost now regrets it). The domain, my friend, was http://www.notwututhinkitis.com/ and I was very proud of it. At first I had imagined making it a joke website with pictures and fun things - you'd come to the site, and being distraught by viewing a "gardening" website, would click the link "Surprised?" And be taken to a bright, colorful webpage with happy things all over it.

Of course all of this didn't happen, because I had absolutely no experience communicating and living on the internet, so I did the best I could on Microsoft Frontpage, and created a small site with stolen images from places like Pokemonaholic and Mew's Hangout, which at the time, was THE Pokemon fansite on the net. I was beginning to be flamed by fans of MH and during all the torture learned of an interesting little statement called a copyright. Apparantly, when you typed this one little symbol and said 'Copyright', it means that nobody can use it. Wow.

After learning this little piece of info I started to download free web templates (though I had problems unzipping the files at times) and put copyright things on them. One of them was a cute little blue layout with hover-over links which had a nasty habit of confusing the heck out of me in HTML mode. Of course, as time progressed, I learned to work in HTML mode entirely.

However, I did not have one key bit of knowledge for a website: SSI. Or in technical terms, Server Side Includes. I had read guides on it at Mew's Hangout but never understood it - Dad wasn't much help, so perplexed, I went to Xantan's Nest, a fairly large Pokemon website and requested help from Xantan, the webmaster. He set me up with a nice purple layout and then soon after helped me install SSI, sending me into a world of possibility. He also gave me a styleswitcher, and I made many different styles, exploring the world of HTML and CSS in more depth than I had ever done so before.

During this whole time, my site's name had gone through a series of changes. At first it was Torchic's Forest, then Torchic's Headquarters. It evolved into Eevee's Shrine, and then finally, into Eevee's Headquarters, which it remains loyal to today.

Back to the story. I had begun to become a "fan" of The Valley of Nightmares, and asked Eevereon for two layouts (at different times). The first was a red, Flareon-themed layout that stayed with us for quite a while. After that came a rainbow colored layout.

Those were the days! By then, I could code and design my own layouts - and I did. My skill was increasing rapidly by now, and EHQ flourished! The community was great, and I was getting about 100 visitors a day! Awesomeness!!

But it wasn't cutting it for me. EHQ didn't have anything special; it was just like any other pokesite. So I set out to create a whole new EHQ; version 2.

Luck was with me. While I was planning the revamp and all the new content, my friend Danyal (Pokemon Playground RPG) came and offered to help me create a membership system and everything! I was OVERJOYED! We started soon after that, and EHQ2 became "quite" cool.

But then Danyal started to get more and more busy, and I was left to code more and more on my own. But that was fine - by then, I was rapidly learning PHP and MySQL as well, so I fared well.

And here we are today - in fact, I'm typing this very sentence as I contemplate how long it will take to complete EHQ 2. Who knows? Let's hope it'll unravel yet another happy chapter in the history of Eevee's Headquarters!

* * * Unraveling another "happy chapter"!!

Wow! It's been a long time! So, to continue with the story, I did finish EHQ 2, but most of the features were not completed (I fell pray to must-finish-and-release-NOW disease). Released on May 15th, it was *surprisingly* popular! People loved it! Since then, our hits have more than quadrupled, which is aw-aw-awes-ome~!

However, the "happy chapter" ends there. EHQ 2, version 2, was coded EXTREMELY badly. Now, while it got the job done, it just wasn't cutting it. And nothing was really working besides the rickety little forums. In accordance with the ickness, I set out to create a new EHQ - version 3.

Again, luck was on my side. And it came in form of a Genius-Guy named Electron who spoke 6 languages and coded in even more. WOOT! It's thanks to him that EHQ3 is what it is now, as I sit here, trying out the "Create Article" function of the admin panel. He helped so much... he practically owns half of EHQ! If I weren't the one paying for it and who owned it for 4 years, one would think he created it, and not me.

Now, EHQ3 is incredible. Absolutely. Positively. Incredible. We have so much AWESOME features, I don't think I'm going to explain it to you; just look around you! Isn't it incredible? When the general public gets their paws on this sucker, they won't let go!

LET'S HOPE IT UNRAVELS YET ANOTHER *codeandpainfilled* HAPPY CHAPTER OF EEVEE'S HEADQUARTERS!

* * * Another "happy chapter"...

Well, hello again. Since I've last updated this page, we've gone and revamped v3 again - and we are releasing March 10 through March 15. The site has been split into 3 sections, Fansite, Community, and RPG. Everything is running pretty dang smoothly, so all I have to do is code some quests, oh yeah, finish the Inventory script, and then build the Eonlight Valley opening event. :D I'll update more after v3 releases and such! To Future Eevee-chan: Hey, Kat! How's it going there in the future? The release of v3 is doing well? ^_^ Write back to YOUR future self soon!
